Answer · The Son of God

Why did Jesus pray if he is God?

Prayer proves the incarnation was real. It does not prove that God is divided into multiple divine centers.

Direct answer

Jesus prayed from his genuine human life as the Son, not because a second divine God needed help from the first.

Prayer belongs to his humanity

Jesus truly lived as a man under the law, dependent upon God, tempted, obedient, and able to suffer.

God was still fully present in him

The Gospel that records Jesus praying also records him saying the Father dwelt in him and that whoever saw him saw the Father.
